PhilosophyWelcome!I appreciate you taking the time to look into Powerfulathlete.com. I have enjoyed coaching a variety of athletes and assisting them in accomplishing their goals! I believe that everyone is an athlete! The question is whether they are an active athlete or not. My philosophy is to help each athlete that I work with accomplish their goals in a rational, safe, and enjoyable way. I work closely with each athlete. For this reason, I only work with a maximum of ten athletes at a time. Many online coaching programs are based on giving each person a pre-made, packaged program. Some even use computer models instead of people to set up the program. At Powerfulathlete.com, it is just you and me working together. I set up your program with you, I answer all emails and phone calls (within a 24 hour period 350 days a year), and I adjust your program with you when necessary. Many of the athletes I have worked with email me three times a week and call once a week. Since you are investing time and money in a service, you will want to know the answers to several important questions. I encourage you to ask these questions regardless of who you choose to work with. First, does the coach you are working with have an understanding of not only the physical components of training, but the psychological ones as well? I do! Being a psychologist, I have an added advantage of understanding these components such as motivation, cognitive strategies to deal with training and racing situations, and the connection between mind and body. Second, does the coach you are working with have a full time job? I do! Having a full time job allows the coach to realize the realistic expectations that go into training. Unless you are independently wealthy or retired, the number of hours to train will be limited. I focus on effective training! Third, does the coach that you are working with actively train and/or race? I do! Many coaches today have either drastically reduced or completely stopped their training in order to coach. By consistently training and racing, I understand the important concept of hard training days and recovery days. I know what it is like to have lactic acid buildup and the importance of training for a specific event. In essence, I know what it feels like! Please enjoy exploring this website.
